School Foundation Joins Community Foundation Umbrella
Two of Bartlesville's largest philanthropic entities are joining forces to better provide for the education of youth in local schools. With a shared goal of serving the community, Bartlesville Public School Foundation will come under the Bartlesville Community Foundation umbrella as an affiliate allowing them to reduce overhead and streamline their grant and award processes. Affiliates maintain their own board of directors and grant making programs, while the community foundation provides asset management and operational support.
Bartlesville Public School Foundation was established in 1985 to help the Bartlesville Public School system maximize the quality of education for its students. It provides grants for curricula and programs that accelerate and enrich the learning environment for all students. To date, the BPSF has funded over $2 million in creative projects outside the traditional state, local, and federal sources to provide the schools with continued state-of-the-art instruction and facilities. These funds include classroom grants, awarded twice a year, for new and innovative approaches to education that develop or supplement programs to stimulate thought and/or expand the existing curriculum. BPSF also honors former educators from Bartlesville Public Schools through its Educator Hall of Fame.
